SUPER SFIV - Update - 11/12/09 Edition.

First of all a new Modes Trailer came out recently, it showcases Super's new modes which includes a new much needed lobby system where spectators can enjoy the current online match.

And to catch up on the latest confirmed information about SSFIV so far:

  • From the words of Seth K., "Yes you can record and save your matches at will"
  • New Online Modes are now here, such as team battle, replay mode, and endless matches (some sort of challenge the winner system).
  • Bonus Stages are back! Car crushing and barrel breaking!
  • More stages will be added, Ono talks about bringing back character specific stages
  • At the NYC Fight Club, Seth K. said that all the characters had been buffed
  • SSFIV Characters come unlocked! No need to grind!
  • According to Kotaku, Ken is getting something new, and Seth gets cheaper
  • Ono says to keep your SFIV disc because having that will get you a little treat, which has not yet been revealed
  • Those who paid for the alternate costumes will not have to pay for them in SSFIV.
  • SSFIV will be sold on discs, not DLC. Game won't be full price though.
  • An estimate of 8 characters are to be added to the SFIV roster. (Doesn't say from which SF title though)
  • Returning Characters Dee Jay & T-Hawk have been confirmed!
  • New Character Juri has been confirmed!

Border Rumble SFIV Tournament Results

First of all I would like to thank Mikeyboy956 and Felipe for coordinating the event.
Bravo Adult Care for Providing the Place the event took place.
Dr. Ike's Home Centers for donating the ice chest prize, bracket poster and game fuel(Gatorade).
and everyone that contributed to documenting the event and the people in attendance.

There were 21 Participants this time around, not bad(maybe next time we will fill up the 32 spots.
There were some pretty good Matches going on.
some skilled Seth, Chun-li, Ken, Ryu players Just to name a few.
But the suprise Talent seemed to come out of nowhere from Jesse, whom mains El Fuerte.
David M. (aka dragula96) took him out of the winners bracket earlier on, but Jesse refused to give up and fought his way back from the loosers bracket, all the way up to GRAND FINALS, where he met up with David for a second chance to take down the local SFIV Tournament King.
Jesse chose to switch to Ryu, in an attempt stop history from repeating itself.
David ended up takeing 1st place while Jesse took home 2nd.

An honorable mention goes out to Oscar(darkaoz) who made it to the finals but was disposed of by David, some of you might remember Oscar from the Previous local Gamestop tournament, where him and David went toe to toe till the very last round where David came out *VICTORYOUS*.

Dorkey winner

*Edit: More videos with commentary

Here is what Capcom had to say on thier updated blog:

OK, so here's the real topic for today.
Everyone, are you losing your edge?
In the blog following SBO, I wrote "with SBO over, it really feels like the summer of SF4, the summer of fighting games, is coming to an end".
Considering that, and the announcement of SSF4 being released only on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, I can't really complain that everyone's motivation is dropping a bit.Neither me, Ono, the development staff or anyone else here could stand it...
so we're having a tournament!
Once again, an Official Capcom National Tournament....
well, it's a little premature. We're actually still hammering out the details, so I can't say more, but please wait just a little longer for a proper announcement!
We're still deciding on dates, rules, and a name for the tournament.
Of course, special custom titles will be on the line as usual.
So everyone, it's a little too early to lose motivation just yet! Stay tuned for more information!
Also: 3 new SSFIV Images were released, new art for Ryu, Ken, and Sagat.
